Free in the OC: Santa Ana Art Walk



Looking for something fun and free to do on a Saturday night? Why not join the gallery owners of the artists village in Downtown Santa Ana for an evening of dining, shopping for original art and viewing of open lofts?

Orange County's hippest new neighborhood invites you to stroll down the four blocks of the 2nd Street Promenade from Broadway Avenue to Spurgeon Street on the First Saturday of EVERY month from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Admission is FREE.

The monthly event will give you access to buy original art work from some of Southern California’s freshest, edgiest and most talented artists. It also will have open viewings of working lofts owned by artists and designers all in an award winning urban setting.

Famous Face From Orange County: Jason Lee



This week's Famous Face From Orange County is Jason Michael Lee. He was born and raised in Huntington Beach and attended Ocean View High School. According to IMDB:

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA, Lee turned a childhood pastime of skateboarding into a professional career. After moving to Los Angeles during his early twenties, however, he began developing an interest in acting. "I met friends that were actors and thought maybe I should try it out", says Lee, who appeared in commercials and music videos. "After watching Steve Buscemi as the bellboy in Barton Fink(1991), I knew I wanted to be in movies", he says.

Lee's big break came in 1995 with the lead role in writer-director Kevin Smith's comedy, Mallrats (1995), in which he deftly portrayed the inconsiderate slacker, "Brodie". Lee went on to star in Smith's Chasing Amy (1997), for which he won an Independent Spirit Award for best supporting male for his role as Ben Affleck's insecure, outspoken roommate "Banky". Lee went on to showcase his intuitive timing as the demonic "Azrael" in Smith's supernatural comedy, Dogma (1999). He reunited with Smith in the Dimension Films comedy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Clerks II (2006).
His most recent and notable work includes producing and staring in NBC's "My Name is Earl" and Alvin and the Chipmunks  (2007). Lee also co-starred as the voice of "Syndrome" in Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar's Award-winning animated feature The Incredibles (2004)

Orange County City of the Week: Anaheim



The city of Anaheim was founded in 1857 by fifty German families. It was incorporated as the second city in Los Angeles on February 10,1870 and developed into an industrial center, producing aircraft parts, electronics, and canned goods. As of the 2010 United States Census it is ranked as the most populated city in Orange county, with 336,265 residents and a projected population of over 400,000 by next year. This rapid growth is due to the Platinum Triangle, the district in Anaheim surrounded the city's two major sports venues, The Honda Center and Angel Stadium. It is also home to the world famous Disneyland Resort!
