Famous Face From Orange County: Zack de la Rocha

 

 

Zacarias Manuel "Zack" de la Rocha is an American rapper, musician, poet, and activist. He is best known as the vocalist and lyricist of Rage Against the Machine. He was born in Long Beach, CA and raised in Irvine, CA. Zack met his friend and future band mate for Rage Against the Machine, Tim Commerford.

Famous Face From Orange County: Congresswoman Linda Sánchez

 

Linda Sánchez is this week's Famous Face From Orange County. Linda was born in Orange, California and grew up with six siblings. She was raised in Anaheim, CA. Sánchezearner her BA in Spanish from University of California Berkeley. She later earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1995 at UCLA School of Law.
 
Sánchez has represented California's 39th Congressional district since 2003. The 39th district includes the communities of Artesia, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, La Mirada, Whittier, Florence, Long Beach, Lynwood, Paramount, South Gate, Watts, and Willowbrook.

Congresswoman Sánchez broke many barriers in Congress. She is becoming the first Latina to serve on the House Judiciary Committee. She was also the first Latina in history to serve on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Famous Face From Orange County: Zacky Vengeance

 

This week's Famous Face From Orange County is Zachary James Bakery, better known as Zacky Vengeance. He was born December 11, 1981 in Huntington Beach, California. He currently resides in Laguna Hills, CA. Zacky is the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for the American metal/rock band Avenged Sevenfold.

Despite playing the guitar left handed, Vengeance recalls the first guitar he learned to play on was actually a right-handed his parents had bought him for his thirteenth birthday. He learned by playing upside-down, watching his favorite bands and other people he knew who played, and practiced as much as he could. He would also read each edition of Guitar World cover to cover, learning the tabs of the songs published there and watching the professionals perform them until he could play them.

Famous Face From Orange County: Kaitlin Sandeno Olympic Swimmer

 

Kaitlin Sandeno, born in Mission Viejo, is a retired American swimmer. She was part of the team that set the world record in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics. 

Sandeno won the bronze medal in the 800 m freestyle event in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

In the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece Sandeno won a silver medal in the 400 m IM, a bronze medal in the 400 m freestyle, and a gold medal i nthe 4x200 m freestyle relay. She was also part of the team that broke the seventeen-year-old world record by more than two seconds with their victory in the 4x200 m freestyle relay.

Sandeno announced her retirement when she did not qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. As of May 2010, Sandeno has joined with Think Physical Therapy and started a ventured called Swim Tank where she will do stroke analysis for swimmers.  

For the 2010 Southern California Swim Season, Sandeno was an assistant swim coach at Mater Dei High School, a private catholic high school in Santa Ana, California. As a high school, she attended El Toro High School in Lake Forest.
